Football legends  Earl Morrall, and C. Leo Redmond from Muskegon, and Okie Johnson and Sonny Grandelius from Muskegon Heights were inaugural inductees at the first banquet in 1987.  Morrall and Grandelius went on to stellar careers at Michigan State.
