Scholar-Athlete
The Muskegon Chronicle
Muskegon Sports Hall of Fame
 Scholar-Athlete award
was first presented in 1996. A committee of seven board members accepts a single male and female nominee from each high school in the area. This annual honor is bestowed upon the students that best exemplify a combination of scholastic achievement, athletic excellence and community service. In 2005, a cash award of $500 was added to the honor, thanks to the generosity of
Verizon Communications
and
Jon Sepeshy's State Farm Agency.
